As cities grow and urban infrastructure expands, the importance of designing inclusive, accessible buildings has become increasingly critical. This article explores ten practical strategies to improve accessibility in the built environment, with a focus on international standards such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG), and principles of Universal Design. These guidelines serve not only to meet legal obligations but also to promote safety, equity, and usability for all building users—regardless of ability. The article argues that accessibility should be embedded from the earliest stages of planning, not only to comply with best practices but to foster inclusive communities and align with national development goals such as Qatar National Vision 2030.
