Synthesis of triphenyl imidazole and quinazolinone derivatives, demonstrating significant yields and stability.
ABSTRACTThe present research work focused on the synthesis and characterization of triphenyl imidazoleand 2-methyl-3-phenylquinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives using conventional organic synthesismethods. Triphenyl imidazole was synthesized by condensation reaction involving benzil, ammonium acetate, and benzaldehyde under reflux conditions, whereas quinazolinonederivative was synthesized using anthranilic acid, acetic anhydride, and aniline in presence ofL-proline catalyst. The synthesized compounds were purified by recrystallization andevaluated for physicochemical properties such as color, appearance, and melting point.Structural characterization was carried out using TLC-MS, FT-IR spectroscopy, and 1H NMRspectroscopy. The observed spectral data confirmed successful synthesis and purity of bothheterocyclic derivatives. The synthesized compounds exhibited satisfactory yield andstructural stability. The study demonstrated the importance of heterocyclic chemistry indevelopment of biologically active compounds and provided an efficient synthetic approachfor preparation of imidazole and quinazoline derivatives for further pharmacologicalinvestigation.
