Analyzes team communication impacts on project success in open source projects, suggesting effective strategies.
Team communication is one of the critical factors inthe success of software project management, particularly indistributed and volunteer-based open source projects. This studyaims to analyze the influence of team communication on thesuccess of open source projects on the GitHub platform.Communication indicators used include comment frequency onissues and pull requests, the number of active contributors, andissue response time. Project success is measured through thenumber of stars, forks, and issue resolution rate. Data werecollected from 200 GitHub repositories using the GitHub RESTAPI and analyzed using multiple linear regression and Pearsoncorrelation. Results show that communication frequency on theissue tracker (r = 0.72, p < 0.01) and team response speed (r =−0.61, p < 0.01) have significant correlations with project success. The multiple regression model yielded R² = 0.68, meaning 68% ofthe variance in project success can be explained by the threecommunication variables. These findings provide practicalimplications for open source project managers in designing moreeffective communication strategies.
