This paper presents an automatic transfer switch system that ensures a secure power system by integrating advanced digital functions with the notions of Internet Of Things (IoT), connectivity and resiliency. There are presented the power systems vulnerabilities followed by a practical study case of an in the house built secure automatic transfer switch system (ATSS) by addressing the cyber-attack which can take place on the transmission command of the ATSS. The remote monitoring and control modules (transmitter and receiver units) are also presented along with a detailed description of the encoding algorithm.
