Experimental study demonstrates the impact of fiber reinforcement index on concrete properties, suggesting optimization methods.
This study presents the experimental investigation on static and dynamic properties of steel fiber reinforced Concrete (SFRC) with different indices of steel fiber (SF). It examines the various parameters like length of SF, diameter of SF, volume fraction (Vf) of SF, aspect ratio and curing time, curing type of SF that influence the properties of Reinforced Concrete. Compression strength (fck), flexural strength (fcr), splitting tensile strength (fct), modulus of elasticity (Ec), initial and ultimate impact energy (U1 and U2) tests are investigated on four types of hooked end SFs. The Fiber Reinforcement Index/steel fiber index (RI) is determined based on the Vf of fibers in the concrete matrix. The Response Surface Methodology (RSM) technique is employed for prediction and optimization. The study reveals that the highest values are achieved with 50 mm SFs at 2% volume (RI = 1) after 28 days. The maximum fck is 48.53 N/mm2, fcr is 6.45 N/mm2, fct is 8.82 N/mm2, Ec is 34.83 GPa, U1 is 386.88 N-m and U2 is 1212.55 N-m.
