Conceptual framework examines pre-semantic thresholds in biopolitical contexts, suggesting alternative cognitive frameworks.
Recent advances in two-dimensional materials (such as MoS₂ and graphene) and neuromorphic engineering have enabled the development of bio hybrid interfaces capable of emulating spike timing dependent plasticity ex vivo. Rather than translating semantic content, these devices operate at a foundational level by modulating the resting membrane potential and the probabilistic threshold of neuronal activation. Building on these empirical results, this paper conceptualizes the pre semantic threshold as a critical framework for cognitive science and political epistemology. Moving beyond classical theories of the extended mind, it argues that bio artificial devices do not extend human cognition; instead, they extend the technical environment into the biological substrate, functioning as informational epigenetic markers that pre configure the space of the possible before meaning emerges. By establishing a structural isomorphism between neuromorphic spikes at the micro scale and algorithmic feeds at the macro scale - both operating as Modulating Systems (MS) that compute syntactic plausibility rather than semantic content - the paper reframes the contemporary infosphere as an intrusive environment of forced selection. Within this framework, the biological body retains a margin of indeterminacy that acts as an active medium capable of resisting full saturation. This shift redefines the terrain of biopolitics: power no longer acts through the ideological manipulation of conscious meaning, but through the environmental saturation of the pre semantic threshold, narrowing ecological openness and generating structural psychic distress through cognitive entrainment and the erosion of pre semantic resistance.
