Evaluates the visual quality of Brittany's coast, indicating high scenic quality influenced by natural factors.
Landscape, understood as the multisensory perception of our surroundings, is a fundamental component of quality of life and, as such, must be evaluated. Among the methodologies for evaluating the visual quality of landscapes, the Coastal Scenic Evaluation System (CSES) stands out. This paper focuses on the coastal landscape of Brittany, with the aim of evaluating its visual quality and how it relates to human and natural factors, as well as protected natural areas. The 93 sample sites are distributed in Class I: 13 sites, Class II: 35 sites, Class III: 35 sites, Class IV: 7 sites and just 3 sites in Class V. These results clearly indicate the high scenic quality of the studied coast, which is driven by its intrinsic natural characteristics and low level of urbanization.
