This educational initiative explores climate justice perspectives in students, highlighting the impact on marginalized communities.
There is no doubting the importance of teaching climate change well: it is one of society’s most pressing issues. However, while we concentrate on the causes and impacts of climate change, as well as adaption and mitigation, there is little focus at secondary level on the wider questions of climate justice. Climate justice requires educators to consider the perspectives of the communities most harmed by climate change –a way of thinking about climate change that foregrounds the experiences of marginalised peoples and recognises the uneven responsibility for, and impacts of, climate change.
