Abstract: This study examines intra-block disparities in rural development within the Burdwan-II CD Block of Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal, focusing on unequal resource distribution. By analyzing variations in socio-economic conditions, the research evaluates the extent and nature of developmental differences between two selected villages: Hatgobindapur and Sehara. Utilizing both primary data from household surveys and secondary official data, the study assesses key indicators, including literacy rates, education, occupational structure, sanitation, housing, safe drinking water, and basic infrastructure. The findings reveal that development is unevenly distributed, with certain areas lagging significantly behind others. By identifying these localized inequalities, the paper underscores the critical need for targeted policy interventions. Ultimately, it discusses strategic measures to bridge these developmental gaps, ensuring that resources effectively reach backward pockets to foster balanced and inclusive regional development.
