Investigates digital tools for sustainable materials innovation, highlighting potential industry benefits.
Digitalising safe-and-sustainable materials innovation The Horizon Europe PINK project transforms Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design into a digitally enabled innovation process. Advanced materials and chemicals underpin many of the technologies shaping Europe’s future. They enable renewable energy systems, electric mobility, digital devices, and innovative healthcare solutions. Yet, these materials must also meet increasingly demanding expectations regarding environmental sustainability, human safety, and resource efficiency. This dual challenge lies at the centre of the European Union’s twin green and digital transition. As the EU seeks to strengthen industrial competitiveness while achieving climate neutrality and a toxic-free environment, the development of next-generation materials must integrate sustainability considerations from the earliest stages of innovation.
