The composition of an essential oil sample isolated from aerial parts of Vietnamese Conyza canadensis (L.) Cronq. has been investigated by combination of chromatographic [GC(RI)] and spectroscopic techniques (GC-MS, 13C-NMR). In total, 29 compounds have been identified, and they accounted for 96.4%, of the whole composition, dominated by (2Z)-lachnophyllum methyl ester (48.0%), followed by limonene (5.6%), (E)-β-ocimene (13.2%), germacrene D (7.4%) and (E)-β-farnesene (10.4%). Lastly, literature concerning the composition of Conyza canadensis (L.) Cronq. essential oil has been deeply reviewed and demonstrated that the occurrence, at appreciable content, of (2Z)-lachnophyllum methyl ester in the essential oils from aerial parts could be underlined.
