Analysis reveals physics' contribution to India's development, emphasizing innovation and infrastructure strengthening.
The vision of the Viksit Bharat 2047 is to make India a developed, self-reliant, technologically advanced and inclusive, nation by the centenary of the independence of India. Science and technology are behind this change, the basic science behind the transformation is physics, which is the basis of the innovative sectors. In this paper, the author analyzes the complex role of physics in helping to realize the developmental needs of India, including energy security, space exploration, quantum technologies, healthcare, materials science, climate sustainability, and digital infrastructure. It also takes into account the institutional frameworks, policy initiatives, and research platforms that make use of physics based developments. The study holds that strengthening the infrastructure in physics education, research, industry and translational innovations is going to be critical in achieving the objectives of Viksit Bharat 2047
