An archaeological strip and map exercise was carried out across 100% of the site. The methodology was adapted during works to fit the needs of the site, with two areas requiring different levels of excavation (illustrations 03-04). The area where the proposed turbine and concrete base are to be erected (Area A) was excavated to the first layer of archaeological deposits or to the natural if there is no archaeology present. The remaining section of the site required only shallow groundworks, with the turf being removed to place hardcore that would allow vehicular access (Area B). This section was excavated to a depth of 30mm under archaeological supervision, with groundworks to not exceed this depth during the laying of hardcore. There was a section in the south-western part of the area that had been stripped at some point prior in activity unrelated to these works (Area C). A section of drainage pipe dated 1959 was recorded. No other archaeological finds or features were recorded.
