Alder Archaeology Ltd. were commissioned to produce a detailed historic building record of Craigdallie Cottage, in advance of demolition The cottage is a partially harled rubble-built structure. Later single storey extensions have been added in brick. The building was constructed before first edition OS maps were produced in 1864 and contains local earth mortar in the original sections, which are a feature of vernacular buildings in the area. The property has not been significantly altered with the exception of West and North brick extensions being added in the mid-19th C and a garage with hipped and pitched slate roofs in the late 19th to early 20th C. Smaller adaptions have been made in the mid and late 20th C. The structure is currently in a ruinous condition having been vacant for approx. 15 years, and some areas were deemed unsafe to access during the survey. The majority of the roof, interior walls, and floors were demolished and removed 4 years ago to defer collapse of the structure.
