Field research explores Bolivian immigration processes in Belo Horizonte, highlighting spatial appropriation by migrants.
This proposal focuses on field research for a doctoral thesis. More specifically, it looks at the strategies designed to stitch together the history of Bolivian migrants in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte (RMBH-MG), understanding the trajectory of this collective subject from their arrival in Brazil to the appropriation of space that enabled their territorialization (Ribeiro, 2021) in this spatial area. The aim was to gain a theoretical, methodological and empirical understanding of the configurations and specificities of Bolivian immigration processes in the RMBH-MG, which could only be achieved by immersing ourselves in the field and conducting semi-structured interviews (Ariza; Velasco, 2012), whose script was duly approved by UNICAMP's Research Ethics Committee (CAAE: 00710918.4.0000.8142). What vibrates through the pages of this work is the presence of Bolivian immigration in the RMBH MG, understood in the light of the stories of the interlocutors of the research - analyzed as collective subjects - and the migratory trajectories of these subjects, which are intertwined at global, regional and local scales.
