This article reflects on labor market integration changes in Brazilian emigrants to the U.S., highlighting ongoing trends.
The Eastern region of the state of Minas Gerais is one of the areas in Brazil with the highest participation in the emigration flow of Brazilians to the United States. This movement began in the 1960s and has continued to the present day. The main objective of this article is to reflect on the labor market integration of emigrants from this region in the Boston area, highlighting the changes and continuities of this movement in the 21st century. The study draws on a database of research conducted between 2000 and 2025, developing a comparative analysis of changes and continuities regarding migrants' profiles, motivations, migration projects, and labor market insertion at the destination. Preliminary data suggest that emigration since 2010 has become more family-oriented, with the presence of children, and that motivations and return projects have changed; however, the same working conditions and patterns of labor market insertion largely persist.
