Historic building recording documents architectural features of a boundary wall before repairs.
The aims of the investigation were as follows: " To create an annotated photographic record of the wall prior to its repair " To comment on the proposed schedule of works The work consisted of the following components: " The creation of a photographic record, with suitable scales, of all elevations (where safely accessible) and details of any architectural or functional fixtures, fittings and features relating to either the function or development of the wall. " A brief investigation and description of the fabric of the structure. " The creation of a record of the existing structure in its present condition and its setting, employing photography and the development of a photogrammetric model. John Moore Heritage Services carried out historic building recording of a Grade II listed boundary wall (List Entry Number: 1046596) of Holy Rood Roman Catholic Church, Abingdon Road, Oxford, ahead of proposed repair work. Historically the wall was the boundary wall to the grounds of Grandpont House, a late 18th century house located to the north east. The wall now forms the western and part of the southern boundary of the grounds of Holy Rood Catholic Church which was built within the former grounds of Grandpont House in the 1960s. Multiple phases of development were evident within the fabric of the wall: the height of the 18th century boundary wall appears to have been increased in the 19th century, with later and more minor alterations occurring in the 20th century. The remains of a lean-to building were seen in the eastern and southern face of the wall; this may have been an ancillary garden building associated with Grandpont House.
