This article, initially crafted for a keynote at the Reiss-Davis Graduate Center’s graduation in Los Angeles, was later submitted to Psychological Perspectives, aiming to spark dialogue on the unconscious psyche’s role in clinical practice. Upon learning about the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI), I turned to ChatGPT-4 for an edit, and the results were nothing short of surprising. Psychological Perspectives has chosen to display my original piece alongside the AI-edited version, highlighting the potential of technology in our field. In addition to sharing my reactions to the AI revisions—both consciously and through an incubated dream—I had the AI program craft an abstract and review, both found below. Nonetheless, my primary goal remains: to foster discussions on the unconscious psyche in our profession using this dual presentation as a catalyst for broader debates about AI’s place in our work.
