Study designs a reliable network infrastructure for a BPO company, suggesting improvements for security and efficiency.
This study presents a comprehensive Proposed Network Infrastructure Design for Back Room Offshoring Inc., a Business Process Outsourcing company located in Clark Global City, Pampanga, Philippines. The organization's existing network infrastructure was found to lack a dedicated firewall, structured segmentation, and redundant connectivity conditions that expose sensitive financial data to security risks and operational bottlenecks within a hybrid work environment supporting 200 to 250 employees. Employing a descriptive-developmental research design anchored in the PPDIOO lifecycle and the Top-Down Network Design (TDND) methodology, the study systematically assessed the baseline network condition, identified technical deficiencies, and developed a hierarchical enterprise-grade network architecture. The proposed design incorporates dual-ISP redundancy, structured VLAN segmentation across six departmental zones, PfSense perimeter firewall integration, the Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) for dynamic routing, Access Control Lists (ACLs), VPN-based remote access, and centralized network management through the TP-Link Omada SDN platform. The infrastructure was simulated and validated using Cisco Packet Tracer, with functional verification covering connectivity and segmentation testing, ACL packet analysis, and protocol reliability testing through intentional link failure. The proposed design was evaluated through a Client Administration Evaluation Tool and a Technical Experts Evaluation Tool, both utilizing a 4-point forced-choice Likert scale. The client administrator yielded a weighted mean of 3.12 (Agree), while the three-member technical expert panel produced an aggregated weighted mean of 3.11 (Agree), confirming the design's functional soundness and real-world feasibility. Expert feedback identified architectural gaps - specifically the absence of an independent ISP link on the R3-Backup router and the need for a more robust dedicated firewall perimeter - which are documented as recommendations for future improvement. The study aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, demonstrating that a secure, scalable, and budget-conscious enterprise network architecture valued at ₱284,647.50 can be produced as a high-quality academic capstone output within the Philippine BPO context.
