David speaks at Royal College Day to enhance audience understanding of statistics and risk, suggesting new approaches for effective communication.
David is widely known for his ability to make statistics and risk accessible to general audiences. His talk, titled ‘Communicating evidence and uncertainty in a trustworthy way’, will form part of the afternoon session. The RCVS president, Tim Parkin, who personally invited David to speak, said he had been trying to secure him for some time, adding: ‘His ability to make statistics relatable is something I have strived to do for my whole career.’ Tim described the talk as something that ‘will not be the same as a statistics lecture at veterinary school’. Royal College Day begins at 11:00 with the annual general meeting, open to all veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses, followed by the awards ceremony at 13:00. The day will also see Tim Hutchinson invested as the incoming RCVS president and delivering his opening address. Find out more and sign up at www.rcvs.org.uk/royalcollegeday2026
