Global report predicts AI-driven water demand can be managed effectively with coordinated investment, ensuring long-term water security.
According to Watering the New Economy, a new global report from Xylem and Global Water Intelligence (GWI), water demand linked directly to artificial intelligence (AI) is projected to more than double globally by 2050. That translates into roughly 30 trillion additional liters of water each year, intensifying pressure on water‐stressed regions and utilities already being asked to do more with less in increasingly constrained environments. However, the research also suggests that with advance planning and coordinated investment, this growing demand can be managed while strengthening long‑term water security.
