Community-based survey identifies 699 archaeological sites, highlighting hidden heritage in Westmorland Dales.
Northern Archaeological Associates Ltd (NAA) was commissioned by the Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership to undertake a community-based archaeological landscape survey at Great Asby Scar in Westmorland, Cumbria. This was one of a number of cultural heritage projects undertaken as part of the four-year Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership Scheme, aimed at unlocking and revealing the hidden heritage of the Westmorland Dales. 699 archaeological sites, the majority previously unknown, were identified during 3 seasons of survey. These sites ranged from the Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age to post-modern times.
