Methodological documentation outlines the interactive actions of the X platform interface, indicating changes over time.
Time-stamped methodological documentation of the conversational interface of the X platform (formerly Twitter), produced via the walkthrough method (Light, Burgess and Duguay, 2018) on a standard, logged-in user account through the web interface. The record comprises two components. (1) A visual interface topography: six annotated screenshots (Figures S1–S6) documenting the complete set of interactive actions available on an individual public post — the primary action row, the secondary options menu, the repost/quote menu, the reply composition interface, and the system enforcement of character limits in replies and quotes — together with an interactional grammar matrix (Table S1) classifying each action by visibility, text requirement, node generation, and interaction cost. (2) A platform documentation archive: Wayback Machine permalinks to the official X Help Center pages governing the documented interactions, with snapshots bracketing the corpus-collection window (December 2025 – February/March 2026, including 4 January 2026) and current snapshots (June 2026). Visual captures document the interface as of 12 June 2026; the archival snapshots bracket the corpus-collection window of the related study (January 2026), and their mutual consistency establishes the stability of the documented configuration across the study period. This record serves strictly as a material baseline of the platform's interaction architecture at a specific point in time. It does not infer user behaviour, motivations, or stances. It is supplementary material to the data and methods repository of the project (Gómez Cabrera, 2026; doi:10.5281/zenodo.20611971) and serves as the evidentiary basis for the interface descriptions in associated manuscripts.
