Dakshin Dinajpur district is an important agriculture-based district of West Bengal. The economy of this district mainly depends on agriculture, rural markets, and small-scale industries. Various local markets play a significant role in the livelihood, trade, and employment of the people. At the same time, cottage industries, wooden mask industries, handloom industries, and food-processing industries contribute to the economic development of the district. This research paper discusses the socio-economic importance, problems, and future possibilities of markets and small-scale industries in Dakshin Dinajpur district.
