Additive Manufacturing (AM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are pivotal technologies reforming traditional manufacturing and paving the way for today's rapidly evolving industries. The integration of AI and AM orients unprecedented levels of flexibility, customization, precision, and efficiency, enabling the production of complex, high-quality products with reduced waste and lower costs. Together, these technologies are reshaping and revolutionizing the manufacturing processes by promoting sustainable practices and enhancing production capabilities across diverse sectors. To comprehend and unveil the scope and profoundness of this potential research domain, this study conducts a thorough bibliometric analysis of the concurrence of AI and AM. This research aspires to answer the following by extracting documents from the Scopus database with the specified search keywords: (1) identification of leading contributors and collaboration networks; (2) delineation of theme-based clusters from keyword co-occurrences; and (3) formulation of word clouds overtime to determine the future research directions. Furthermore, it provides a structured framework of the existing literature for researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals to build forthcoming approaches based on these findings. Edge computing, intelligent inspection and control, biomedical applications, resilient AI, and circular economy are recognized as paramount dimensions for efficient, automated, real-time, and sustainable AM processes employing AI.
