Abstract This study investigates student attitudes concerning public accounting firms as employers and the informational value of the on-campus interviewing phase of the recruiting process. Eighty-six accounting seniors were surveyed, both prior to and following the fall recruiting period, to assess attitudinal changes concerning 54 employer and work related characteristics. Subjects were grouped along four dimensions (sex, age, had placements interviews, and affiliation with student accounting organizations). Responses indicated no significant differences concerning the desirability of selected professional and technical employer characteristics. Significant differences were found between student subgroup responses to selected administrative policies and practices.
