Systematic review examines how psychosocial resources impact sustainable careers and well-being in Arab LMICs.
This systematic review examines psychological capital (PsyCap) and career adaptability as psychosocial resources promoting sustainable careers and well-being in Arab low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with a specific focus on Algeria. Adhering to PRISMA guidelines, the project synthesizes 45 empirical studies (2015–2025) to investigate how these resources help individuals navigate high youth unemployment, labor market volatility, and collectivist familial pressures. The primary purpose is to address the lack of culturally specific career frameworks by analyzing how career adaptability mediates the relationship between individual PsyCap and outcomes like life satisfaction, flourishing, and decent work. The expected outcomes include mapping critical methodological gaps—such as the field's heavy reliance on cross-sectional designs (80%)—and delivering an integrated, culturally sensitive model to inform practical career interventions and multi-stakeholder employability strategies across the Arab context.
