Demonstrates novel arterial phantom for endovascular treatment development, suggesting improvements in medical device testing.
To advance the development of novel endovascular treatment methods and devices, including stents, this study presents a compliant arterial phantom incorporating artificial atherosclerotic plaque analogues with anatomically realistic geometry and material properties. The phantom design was guided by three key priorities: achieving realistic plaque deformation behavior, utilizing non-toxic and cost-effective materials, and ensuring accurate X-ray attenuation coefficients for realistic medical imaging.
