Investigates magnetic properties in a 3D heterometallic coordination polymer, suggesting novel insights into magnetism.
By making the most of the structural variability of copper cyanide system as 3d motifs, a three-dimensional 3d-4f heterometallic coordination polymer (HCP) formulated as [Dy4Cu7(ina)8(CN)6(OH)5(H2O)5]·7H2O, (compound 1) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. In compound 1, [Dy₄] cubane clusters was introduced as secondary building units (SUBs) into the three dimensional architecture. These paired [Dy₄] units, [(Dy₄)₂], are further connected by isonicotinic acid carboxylic groups to give 4f motifs as 1D infinite chains. Magnetic susceptibility results indicate that compound 1 exhibits slow magnetic relaxation.
