This research reviews nine years of literature on how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used for sustainable practices through business intelligence and data analytics. The study employs bibliometric and content analyses, examining 329 English-language articles from journals indexed in the Web of Science (WOS) database. The United States stands out as the leading contributor and recipient of citations, while the Indian Institute of Technology System (IIT System) and King Abdulaziz University are the most prolific institutions in this field. Sustainability and The International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health are the most frequently published and cited sources, respectively, with Kumar A. and Mehmood R. emerging as prominent authors. The analysis reveals a growing interest in topics like machine learning, big data analytics, and sustainability, particularly between 2020 and 2022. While the content analysis highlights the positive impact of these emerging technologies, it's important to acknowledge that the study's focus on the WOS core collection might limit its generalizability beyond this specific dataset.
