Analyzes conodont associations in the Middle Devonian deposits, indicating detailed biostratigraphic subdivisions.
Conodont associations from the Givetian deposits of the Middle Devonian in the Pokrovskoye section (Middle Urals, Eastern slope) have been studied. The Vysotinsky regional stage of the Givetian has been subdivided in detail. This study is based on the biostratigraphic method. The taxonomic determination of the conodont associations and their correlation with the zonal scale have been conducted. Fifteen species of conodonts belonging to eight genera are identified: Ancyrolepis, Belodella, Ctenopolygnathus, Eucostapolygnathus, Polygnathus, Linguipolygnathus, Icriodus, and Tortodus. The consecutive standard conodont zones of the Lower-Middle Givetian: Polygnathus timorensis, Po. rhenanus — Po. varcus and Po. ansatus are established within a 2.6 m thick section. Zonal conodont associations are compared with those of other regions.
