Objectives The aim of this study is to describe the epidemiological characteristics of artistic roller skating in female athletes. Methods Artistic roller skaters participating in the national league of the Spanish Federation of Skating ( n = 152) were surveyed via an anonymous online questionnaire to screen for injury characteristics: incidence, location, tissue affected, and injury onset. Injury rates were compared using the incidence rate ratio. Results There were 228 injuries (80% during training sessions) across 44,178 hours of exposure, giving an overall injury incidence of 5.2/1,000 hours. Incidence was significantly higher in competitions (741/1,000 h) compared to training sessions (4.2/1,000 h) ( P < 0.001). Ninety-seven artistic roller skaters sustained an injury, accounting for an overall prevalence of 64%. The body areas with the higher number of injuries were the knee ( n = 33 [15%]), ankle ( n = 30 [13%], and wrist ( n = 25 [11%]).
