Fictional narrative explores love, attraction, and emotional truths through simulated realities in a neuroscience setting.
From the moment that Luna rescues Rosie from a whirlwind snowstorm in Minneapolis, Rosie knows that love is real. In meeting Luna, she has discovered it, as if she has discovered a new planet. Luna, still closeted, rejects the magnetic attraction she feels in turn. As snow melts into spring, the diamagnetic attraction between these women draws them together and repels them apart again and again. Rosie’s internship at a neuroscience lab gives her access to experimental technology. After Luna rejects her yet again, Rosie invites her into a series of simulated realities that might prove to Luna that there are worlds in which she and Rosie get their happy ending. But when Luna secretly sabotages Rosie’s project, the two women must confront truths in their hearts long buried. This thesis is a work of fiction.
