Randomized simulations demonstrate accelerated ice loss due to calving from hydrofracture in Antarctic scenarios, indicating significant climatic implications.
The code and data used in Grau et al., 2026, "Accelerated Antarctic Ice Loss in Simulations with Calving Driven by Hydrofracture under Supraglacial Melt Lakes". This repository includes the run scripts to run transient Antarctic simulations up to 2300, configuring hydrological forcing for hydrofracture calving scenarios, and model output compiling and extraction. Full descriptions and the most updated versions of these scripts can be found at the following GitHub repository. https://github.com/dgrau13/transient-antarctic-meltlakes. Additionally, these mean supraglacial meltwater depth and lake depth parameterizations have been added within the crevasse depth calving scheme and can be found at the following GitHub fork of ISSM: https://github.com/dgrau13/ISSM-meltlakes. Lastly, this work wouldn't be possible without the Ice sheet and Sea-level System Model (ISSM), which is a free open source model developed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and can be found at the following GitHub repository: https://github.com/ISSMteam/ISSM.
