Kinetic model reveals the decomposition process in methanol, suggesting an autocatalytic nature of the reaction.
The kinetics and stoichiometric mechanism of decomposition of sodium hydroxymethanesulfinate in methanol solution were studied. Based on the time dependences of the concentrations of compounds formed during the reaction, as well as literature data, a kinetic model of the process is proposed. By means of a time modification of the model, the rate constants of individual stages of the reaction under study were determined and its autocatalytic nature was established.
