Technical note develops a framework on significance readability in human interaction, highlighting interpretation and AI roles.
This technical note develops a structural-regulatory account of significance readability and misreadability in human interaction. It examines how human psychic significance is partially externalized through symbolic and behavioral forms, compressed by communicative conditions, reconstructed through another person's history and significance organization, and subsequently preserved, narrowed, displaced, or replaced in response. The paper distinguishes semantic understanding from significance preservation, misreadability from genuine incompatibility, and technical channel width from effective significance bandwidth. It also examines divergent significance fields in interpersonal conflict, the risks and possibilities of therapeutic interpretation, and human--AI interaction as a comparative case of reconstruction from externalized traces.
