Fundamental study measures strain in adhesive anchors, revealing insights into their bonding zones.
In this study, adhesive post-installed anchor specimens with ribbed bar as a variable were fabricated, and without using strain gauges, the strain distribution of the anchor bars under tensile loading was measured using neutron diffraction. The objective is to clarify the bonding zone of the anchor bars. As a result, it was found that the plain bar portion at the loaded end does not provide bond resistance, that the strain gradient under applied load varies depending on the rib spacing, and that the effective bonding zone against tensile load is the rib portion and the adjacent plain bar region.
