Classical constructions of the real numbers build them from the rationals: Dedekind cuts partition Q, Cauchy sequences complete it, continued fractions encode it. This paper builds R+ from quadratic irrationals instead, using the Universal Metallic Family alpha(n,N) = n + sqrt(n^2 + N), n,N in Z+, recently shown to approximate every constant T > 0 along its continued fraction convergents. This paper proves the structural consequence: the set of all ratios alpha(p,N_1)/alpha(q,N_2) is dense in R+, so every positive real is a limit of ratios of quadratic irrationals from a single two-parameter family — a characterization of R+ alongside Dedekind cuts and Cauchy sequences, built for the first time from quadratic rather than rational atoms. The mechanism is an exact logarithmic cancellation in the hyperbolic representation of alpha(n,N), assigning to every T a finite metallic signature (N_1,N_2) with N_1/N_2 approx T^2. This paper proves the signature denominator function R(T) is finite for every T yet unbounded over R+, and equips R+ with a signature pseudometric. The result is one algebraic family generating, encoding, and metrizing the positive real line.
