Randomized trial reveals new temporal regimes in complex systems through hierarchical reorganization, suggesting a novel understanding of time.
This preprint introduces the **Principle of Ontological Ascent**, a formal framework within the Reloj Extramental Discreto (RECD) ontology for understanding how global structural reorganizations (Capa 3) give rise to qualitatively new regimes of temporal discreteness. The principle states that a sufficiently deep structural transition can produce an ascent from a stabilized ontological level L_m to Lₘ₊₁, instituting a new law of accumulation intervals Δt_k together with emergent properties of the integrated process t_n that are irreducible to prior accumulation. The work distinguishes two orders of *kairos*: - Relational kairos (Capa 2): preparatory windows of sustained low antisynchronization and critical mass that enable ascent through bidirectional probabilistic filtering. - Ontological kairos (Capa 3): the autonomous stabilization of a new discreteness operator at the higher stratum, accompanied by downward constraints. A uniform data-driven protocol (Frobenius-norm correlation shifts + Kolmogorov–Smirnov tests on Δt_k) was applied to coupled logistic maps, Lorenz oscillators, and real dengue incidence series from San Juan and Iquitos. Reorganization of the Δt_k distribution emerges as the dominant and most reproducible signature of ascent, even when preceding relational kairoi are rare. **Abstract** Standard accounts of critical transitions track changes in amplitude, variance, or correlation length while treating the temporal metric as fixed. Once time is recognized as an emergent, hierarchically stratified quantity—constructed from ordinal conjunctions, gated by systemic τ_s, and scaled by Feigenbaum renormalization—structural reorganization acquires a deeper significance: it can grant access to a previously inaccessible stratum of discrete temporality. The Principle of Ontological Ascent states that a Capa 3 global structural reorganization constitutes an ascent from a stabilized ontological level L_m to Lₘ₊₁ within the hierarchy of the Reloj Extramental Discreto (RECD). The ascent institutes a new regime of accumulation intervals Δt_k together with emergent properties of the integrated process t_n that are irreducible to continuation or summation of the preceding level. The principle rests on a categorical distinction between two orders of kairos. Relational kairos comprises sustained Capa 2 intervals of inter-component coherence—low antisynchronization accompanied by critical mass—that function as ontologically enabling windows through bidirectional probabilistic filtering. They raise the likelihood that lower-layer configurations may crystallize at a higher stratum without determining the outcome. Ontological kairos, by contrast, is the autonomous actualization and stabilization of the new discreteness regime itself: the replacement of the prior discreteness operator by a novel, self-sustaining law of Δt_k at the stabilized level Lₘ₊₁, together with the imposition of downward constraints that actively delimit admissible configurations at subordinate strata. The ascent is therefore not the cumulative effect of facilitative episodes but the emergence of a new ontological stratum. A formal data-driven protocol—combining Frobenius-norm shifts in the correlation structure of multi-channel τ_s matrices with Kolmogorov–Smirnov contrasts on the series of Δt_k—was applied uniformly to coupled logistic maps, Lorenz oscillators, and dengue incidence series (San Juan, Iquitos). Reorganization of the Δt_k distribution is the most consistent marker of ascent, detectable even when preceding relational kairoi are rare (global fraction 0.258). Detected transitions align with macroscopic incidence peaks. Two summary tables report the principal quantitative findings. The framework supplies a non-reductive ontology of structural transition in which the reconstitution of temporal discreteness marks the crossing into a genuinely novel regime of objective time.
