This work completes Jean Piaget's cognitive development theory by providing the formal mechanism he never defined. Piaget accurately described how children progress through qualitative stages of reasoning, but his model lacked a structural explanation for how contradictions trigger accommodation, how cognitive schemas collapse, or how new stages emerge. Using the Carlo Framework, this paper introduces three missing components: the contradiction engine, the trajectory update rule, and the Reset Operator > . These supply the dynamic mechanism that governs how cognitive conflict escalates, how structural limits are reached, and how new reasoning patterns form. The completed theory transforms Piaget's descriptive stage model into a mechanistic system capable of predicting when assimilation will fail, when accommodation becomes necessary, and how repeated resets produce stage transitions. This paper formalises the cognitive conflict loop, defines the conditions under which schema collapse occurs, and demonstrates how the Carlo reset mechanism produces the developmental outcomes Piaget described but could not mechanise. The result is a fully structured, internally consistent model of cognitive development.
