One of the reasons community developers are faced with performance problems of initial major versions of DSpace is that developers often test on a local installation of DSpace that is almost empty. It is not trivial for developers to set up a local repository at scale. This is what DSpace Seed set out to address: easily load a DSpace installation with thousands, millions of objects. As the foundation for this code, a brand new dspace python client library was created, to talk to the different DSpace REST API endpoints. All of this code and tools will be made available in open source by the time of the conference.
