Background & Purpose: MHealth can be useful in managing the various healthcare needs for a child with DS. Although studies have shown that mHealth can aid in the management of chronic conditions in pediatric populations, few studies focused on the management of DS through mHealth. This study aims to test the usability of a mHealth designed to manage the health information needs of a child with Down syndrome. Methods: Mixed methods were used to assess the usability of the mHealth app, 321Connect. As part of the semi-structured interviews caregivers were asked to complete usability exercises and questions related to the overall usability of 321Connect. Caregivers completed the 10-question System Usability Scale which is scored to create a single score of usability. Qualitative data was analyzed through directed content analysis using usability heuristics. Results: Caregivers found 321Connect to be a useful concept but had suggestions to make navigation easier, and improvements to the app to make it more relatable to their child’s health needs. The system usability scale (SUS) scores ranged from 47.5 to 100, with a mean score of 75.3 and a standard deviation of 18.97. The score of 75.3 falls in the “good” range for usability. Conclusion & Discussion There were elements of 321Connect caregivers found useful but recommended improvements that could help with navigation and match to the real world.
