New European multicentre cohort study designs external validation of STS Tricuspid Score for operative mortality.
Why the study?
Does the STS Tricuspid Score accurately predict operative mortality compared to EuroSCORE II, MELD Score, and TRI-Score in patients undergoing isolated tricuspid valve surgery?

Does the STS Tricuspid Score accurately predict operative mortality compared to EuroSCORE II, MELD Score, and TRI-Score in patients undergoing isolated tricuspid valve surgery?
This study aims to externally validate the STS Tricuspid Score for predicting operative mortality in a real-world European cohort undergoing isolated tricuspid valve surgery.
The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Tricuspid Score was recently developed to predict operative mortality after isolated tricuspid valve surgery, but its external validity remains unexplored. We aimed to externally validate the STS Tricuspid Score and compare its discriminative performance against EuroSCORE II, the Model for End-stage Liver Disease (MELD) Score, and the TRI-Score in a multicentre European cohort.

Zancanaro et al. (2026) conducted a cohort in Isolated tricuspid valve surgery. STS Tricuspid Score vs. EuroSCORE II, MELD Score, and TRI-Score was evaluated on Operative mortality. The abstract describes the design of a multicentre European cohort study to validate the STS Tricuspid Score for predicting operative mortality, but reports no quantitative results.
