Examines mass inference using tidal fields, revealing complex relationships between distance and geometry.
CDN-375 tests what mass inference means when the local observable is a tidal field rather than a direct matter inventory. Using a Newtonian synthetic multipole ladder, the artifact fixes the same local trace-free tidal RMS and asks what outside mass is implied as the assumed scope distance and hidden-domain geometry vary. The core scaling is sqrt(tr(T^T T)/3) = sqrt(2) G M / D^3, so at fixed local tide, inferred mass scales as M ∝ D^3. Across the sampled scope ladder, axial inferred mass changes by 262,144x, and allowing planar-ring geometry widens the ladder to 524,288x. The result shows that local tidal mass inference is scope-conditional: without constrained distance and geometry, a mass estimate is not a direct starting inventory.
