Multilayer films of (FePt 2 nm/Ag 5 nm) /spl times/ 10 are synthesized on MgO [100] substrate using laser ablation. The layered structure of the multilayers thus fabricated is preserved even after annealing at 600/spl deg/C for 15 min. The annealed multilayer films exhibit high perpendicular magnetic anisotropy composed of the L1/sub 0/ phase. A Barkhausen volume V/sub B/ is found to be as small as 10/sup -19/ cm/sup 3/.
