This study aims to elucidate the facts related to an episode that is claimed to have occurred during the so-called ‘Legionary Rebellion’ from January 21–23, 1941, practically a sui generis coup d’état executed by Gen. Ion Antonescu with the support of the Nazis, who ensured Romania’s ‘independence,’ reduced to being a German pro-tectorate. It is about the well-known episode of Jews hung on hooks in the Abattoir, a story that, through the emotional effect induced, had devastating effects on the Le-gionaries. It has been demonstrated with irrefutable arguments and documents that: * there was no such event.* the Legionaries did not kill any Jews.* all the victims were killed by soldiers of the Romanian army.* all those so-called pieces of evidence, invoked by the so-called Final Report (on the Holocaust in Romania) – absolutely all of them point to a newspaper article, a sensational journalistic story, like any other, meant to incriminate the Legionaries.* there is no physical evidence – forensic report, medico-legal report, authenticated photograph, etc. – to support the claims made in that article.* all the accusations against the Legionaries are based exclusively on a rumor launched at that time by the SSI, through the specialized teams within the institution.* all these accusations against the Legionaries, along with the entire ideological and legal framework built against them, constitute a classic example of historical mani-pulation for political purposes.
