The Site covers an area of approximately 3.82ha and is the subject of a proposed housing development comprising a low-density residential development. The evaluation is being undertaken pre planning application to inform the application. The archaeological evaluation was carried out in keeping with the aims and methods set out in the approved Written Scheme of Investigation and comprised the excavation of 35 trenches, each 30m by 2m. The evaluation appears to have met the aims of the investigation, showing that archaeological remains are present within the Site. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were found in trenches 1, 4, 7-30, 32-32 and 35. With two distinct areas of activity identified. ,An area of Late Iron Age - Early Roman archaeological activity was identified towards the northern limit of the Site. This includes a series of ditches, which may form a possible boundary/enclosure. Aswell as a possible pit cluster and other discreet features. The features uncovered in the southern part of the site show limited medieval and post medieval activity within the site.
