Analysis reveals improved climate resilience through regional risk assessment and stakeholder engagement.
This document provides an analysis of forest fire and heavy rainfall risks in the Molise Region (ITA), applying the CLIMAAX methodology, as part of Phase 2 of the CLIMOL project. This document highlights the results obtained in Phase 2 of the project, applying the standardized and harmonized CLIMAAX framework. The results obtained reveal two important findings, in our opinion. The regional network, not being homogeneous in terms of time (it was built over several years), cannot be fully utilized for this application, but there is considerable room for improvement, as in a few years we will have complete historical series (30 years) to use. The second important result is that CLIMAAX has provided more information to evaluate potential areas for improving sensor coverage, and we will analyze these activities in detail in Phase 3 of the project. The analysis of the results has nevertheless provided a solid basis for informed policy development, targeted adaptation planning, and stakeholder engagement to improve climate resilience and sustainability in the Molise Region. Over 20 organizations have already been contacted, and we will meet in the coming weeks to present the analysis report.
