Philosophical primer on decision-making in aerospace medicine, emphasizing animal experimentation and regulatory challenges.
I present a primer for decision-making in contexts of aerospace-medical research, development, and regulation. For my purposes, I primarily draw from philosophical works concerning three issues: scientific objectivity and values; evidential pluralism and research methodology; and political economy of pharmaceutical regulation.I place emphasis on a primary method of research in aerospace medicine (i.e., animal experimentation) and its relation to emerging alternatives to animal experimentation.Furthermore, I introduce resources for systematically negotiating with existing and emerging challenges due to scientific, technological, and policy developments in aerospace medicine and beyond.
