Randomized trial evaluates weight loss and cardiometabolic risk in non-diabetic adults using Orforglipron, indicating potential benefits.
Traditional glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) require subcutaneous injections or strict, fasting-dependent oral administration protocols. Orforglipron is a novel, oral, non-peptide small-molecule GLP-1 RA that eliminates food/water restrictions. This paper evaluates its weight-loss efficacy and impact on secondary cardiometabolic risk markers in adults with overweight or obesity without type 2 diabetes. This study evaluates the cardiometabolic effects and weight-loss efficacy of Orforglipron, an oral glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, in non-diabetic adults with overweight or obesity. Over a 72 weeks randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, participants received either Orforglipron or placebo. Primary outcomes included changes in body weight and cardiometabolic risk markers such as blood pressure, lipid profile, and inflammatory biomarkers. Results demonstrate significant weight reduction and improvements in cardiometabolic parameters, suggesting Orforglipron as a promising therapeutic agent for weight management and cardiovascular risk reduction in non-diabetic populations.
